Graduate Opportunities

Vale’s Graduate Program offers a great opportunity for talented graduates from a range of fields to kick-start their careers in the resources sector.

In Australia, Vale graduates spend two years exposed to practical working environments that develop their skills and expertise in the mining industry. The rotational nature of the program offers learning experiences in many areas of the business including both underground and open cut coal operations.

The program includes a full induction, site-based rotations, generic skills training, professional development and site specific projects. At the conclusion of the two year program, graduates are eligible to attend the Advanced Training in Mining Course run by the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) in Brazil for two to three months. There’s also an optional third year extension for graduates who are looking to gain a statutory qualification.

To be accepted into the program, applicants must have successfully completed a relevant university degree – our requirements vary from year to year but key disciplines of interest include engineering, geology, surveying, OHS and environmental studies. They must also be able to work full-time in Australia.
